Speed Sketch and others.

Filed under: Art — RichieDaley @ 10:30 pm

Despite similar dress, these are not the same guy. The one on the right I did this morning on the bus. Was sitting right across from him too, I think he noticed me trying to sketch him (as surreptitious as I was trying to be). He’s texting someone on his cell phone.

The major reason I’m posting this one is because of the image on the right. I was on the bus, and waiting for this guy to settle down in his seat and adopt the far off stare that many bus riders adopt (ie, I was waiting for him to hold still). Unfortunately he kept moving. Not only that, this was my first bus ride before I transfer, so the entire trip lasts about 5 minutes. It ends up that I do this sketch in about 30 -60 seconds and honestly, I think I got a pretty decent likeness, so I’m proud of that.

Man Sleeping On A Bus

Filed under: Art — RichieDaley @ 10:38 pm

Here’s a quick one for you. I started sketching this guy, as he was sitting in the back seat with me and sleeping. His hair was a very vibrant pink. Anyway, I get halfway through the figure when someone comes and sits down between us, effectively cutting off my view of the guy. I did the rest of this, including the windows half from memory, and half from imagination. I hope you like it.

Woo Hoo! 50 Images

Filed under: Art — RichieDaley @ 9:15 pm

Check them out!

As you can probably guess, this first set of pages is me practicing sneakers. When I do something like this with sneakers, or with hoodies a while back, though I am concerned with getting a likeness to the objects I am studying, I’m mostly concerned with understanding the structure and the physics that affect the object. So in these I was trying to figure out the component parts of your average sneaker. The girl on the bottom left was this kid on the bus. Really cute, but with unusual features and a very high forehead which I don’t think I captured well.

On the right, some random guy. On the left, story notes from something I’m planning to write. It’s a good idea for a story, but the execution has been escaping me for a while.

Thank you guys for sticking around for 50 of my images. I think that means at least 100 sketches. I hope to see you around for more. Remember to check out my DeviantArt page at http://richiedaley.deviantart.com. And keep checking back.
